This joyful setting of Psalm 117 is one of two items that Byrd included in his second Gradualia publication of 1610 that are not connected with a specific liturgical Feast. Coincidentally, it features the same scoring as Byrd’s English setting of this Psalm: Praise our Lord all ye Gentiles.
