A Cantus Firmus Music title edited by Timothy Symons.

At first glance this setting of a Compline hymn appears a simple work, perhaps even a compositional exercise. It is entirely homophonic yet Byrd cycles though all the permutations of which voice takes the plainchant melody in each verse, resulting in some unexpected harmonic turns. Tenor 2 may be sung by Baritones if desired.
