This substantial and emotionally-charged Song of Songs motet is one Victoria’s most expressive and finest works, not least because of his uncharacteristic use of false relations.
NB Although the 2nd Tenor ascends higher, its tessitura is lower than 1st Tenor. Retaining this configuration also preserves the 1st/2nd imitation between the Cantus and Tenor.
