Psalm motets were one of the most common musical forms of Elizabeth I’s reign. However, Tallis produced only two such examples – Laudate Dominim and Domine, quis habitabit. Unpublished during his lifetime, Laudate demonstrates Tallis’s ability to balance clear delivery of the text against contrapuntal interest.
