Also known as Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis Octavi toni, this is an early example of the two evening canticles being paired together by an English composer and was probably written towards the end of Henry VIII’s reign. The bright major mode and syllabic text setting make it one of Tallis’s most accessible early works.
