A parody of Crecquillon’s secular songs Mort m’a privé (a4 & a5, written in memory of Isabella, wife of Holy Roman Emperor Charles V). Despite the Mass’s sad title (Death has deprived me) it is one of Crecquillon’s most sublime pieces, full of sonorous harmonies and mellifluous vocal lines.
