This fine motet draws together verses from several different Psalms in a unique combination, suggesting a piece of personal devotion for Crecquillon’s employer – Holy Roman Emperor Charles V. A generation later, the music was used by Philippe Rogier as the model for his Missa Dirige gressus meos.
