Three books of Vivanco’s music were published in his lifetime and this Magnificat is taken from his first publication, the Liber Magnificarum of 1607. It contains 18 Magnificat settings (two on each of the eight tones plus a third Primi and Octavi Toni setting) and is counted among some the finest Iberian polyphony of the Renaissance era.
