An impassioned setting of words from Psalm 6. It contains a number of unexpected harmonic turns and the result is a highly expressive motet typical of the last years of the Renaissance era. Thomas Morley was so impressed with this motet that he made his own “edition” which inspired a number of other settings of this text by English composers during the early 17th century.
