A parody of a motet by Jacquet de Mantua, associated with the feast of the Prophets (though today it would also work well during Lent). As with Palestrina’s parody of this motet, the piece is characterised by wide leaps with long note values and other expressive musical gestures as well as the use of sequences at the end of movements. The sound world is exceptionally rich and sonorous, not least because of de Monte’s thickening of the middle of the texture with an additional Altus voice.
