A song from Dowland’s First Book of Songs or Ayres (1597). All verses have been underlaid and performers may wish to experiment with different scoring permutations from verse to verse (the original prints seemed to encourage this, being produced in tablebook format and described as “so made, that all the parts together, or either of them severally, may be sung to the Lute, Orpherian, or Viol de gambo”).
