One of just two Latin motets by Purcell, this setting of Psalm 128 may have been written for the Catholic chapel of Catherine of Braganza (wife of Charles II). Like its companion piece Jehova, quam multi sunt hostes mei, there are prominent solos (this time for Bass and Soprano) and a variety of choral writing in various styles, including an impressive final ground bass for the Hallelujah.
