A setting of verses from Psalm 42 used as part of the liturgy for Holy Saturday. It is one of Palestrina’s most popular motets today, perfectly encapsulating his style of polyphonic writing. The less familiar second part (Sitivit anima mea) is also included here and features some expressive chromaticism and declamatory homophony.
