Guerrero is highly revered for his Marian music and this serene motet for the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is an excellent example of why his contemporaries referred to him as El cantor de Maria. Alonso Lobo later used this Mass as the model for his Missa Beata Dei genitrix.
