A concise parody of a Marian motet by Guerrero. Lobo demonstrates his mastery of archaic contrapuntal techniques in the 2nd Agnus Dei with an unrealised canon and ostinato, giving only the instruction Per aliam viam reversi sunt (“They returned to their land, following a different path” – Matthew 2: 12). Cantus I and Tenor are realised by singing the given motif, then singing it in retrograde inversion, with two further repetitions of the process (with the Tenor beginning one dotted breve after Cantus I).
